چکیده

Masseter Muscle Hypertrophy (MMH) is a well-known clinical benign condition that not gender-specific and it can be monolateral or bilateral. Botulinum Toxin type A (BoNTA) injection has been widely described for MMH treatment non-surgical facial slimming. BoNTA masseter injections have high efficacy safety profile, but the risks of side effects remain. Muscular bulging during mastication complication due to superficial overcompensation masseteric fibers in response neurotoxic weakening deep masseter. We present biphasic-injection technique administration, based following anatomical concept developed order prevent paradoxical bulging. total 98 treatments from 2015 2020 were performed with this technique. No remarkable complications occurred our study. cases loss full smile, difficulty mouth opening, dizziness, headache, neurapraxia, xerostomia reported. case asymmetric smiling was self-resolved within week. patient claimed transient muscle weakness as distressing. observed. Extensive knowledge muscular anatomy appropriate are key factors achieving desired result avoiding complications. feel sharing tip could helpful all physicians involved BoNTA.

Botulinum toxin for masseter reduction in Asian patients.

Asian patients frequently seek aesthetic alteration of hypertrophic masseter muscles to reduce a prominent mandibular angle. Surgical reduction is common in Asia, but botulinum toxin offers a less invasive approach. This pilot study evaluated results of aesthetic lower face narrowing in 20 Asian patients. Initially, 25 U of botulinum toxin (5 U/0.1 mL) was injected at each inferior masseter bor...

METHODS Ten male adult (>3 months of age) New Zealand white rabbits were used. Muscle activity was continuously recorded from 8 hours before to 8 hours after BTX-A injection. The rabbits received unilateral BTX-A i...

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to compare the expression levels of p65 and S100 in the rat masseter muscle after the injection of different concentrations of botulinum toxin-A (BTX-A). METHODS We injected either 5 or 10 U of BTX-A into both masseter muscle of rats. As a control group, the same volume of saline was injected. After 14 days, the animals were sacrificed.
